One Accord Children’s Ministry workers,
I
was feeling, well unworthy and a bit discouraged the other day at
the awesome task of ministering to God’s very own children. He
encouraged me in First Chronicles chapter 28.
Here
we find David giving Solomon advice on building Gods very own house.
In verse 6, David tells him he has been chosen for this task. God
makes him a promise in verse 7, “I will establish his kingdom
forever if he is unswerving in carrying out My commands and
laws…” In verse 8, “Be careful to follow all the commands of
the LORD your God, that you may possess this good land and pass it
on as an inheritance to your descendants forever.” and then in
verse 9, David tells Solomon, “Serve Him (God) with a willing
mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every motive
behind the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but
if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.”
Obedience.
I believe God has called me to serve Him in this way. Was I having a
“willing mind”, was I “seeking Him”? I was amazed at the
promise that follows the obedience, -Pass it on to your descendants
forever! That’s my goal! To see generations worshiping the LORD!
In
verse 10 it says, “consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to
build a temple as a sanctuary. Be strong and do the work.”
David
goes on to give Solomon directions and materials to do the work.
David says in verse 19, “I have in writing from the hand of the
Lord upon me, and He gave me understanding in all the details of the
plan.” I have the Word of the Lord, written from the hand of the
Lord upon men, The Bible and He gave me understanding by His Holy
Spirit! Thank you Lord!
David
also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do
the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God,
is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work
for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.” Lord, as
long as you are with me I can be strong and courageous no matter how
awesome the task ahead is.
May
we all be strong and do the work and pass along our inheritance in
Jesus to our descendents at COS forever!
