Our Core Values
Community - Safe and Sound Our goal is to be a family that connects through relationship, rather than isolating; who are grace-driven not judgmental, who are supportive rather than suspicious, who strive for unity of uniformity, who are committed to loving confrontation, and who are real, not religious. We believe that God places the lonely in families and therefore desire to be a safe place for the broken and the vulnerable.
Relationship - Promoting Sound Hearts and Minds
We believe that relationship is key to understanding what life is all about. This includes our relationship with God, with ourselves and with others. Placing one's faith in Christ is the beginning of a process of transformation - spirit, soul and body whereby our lives become centered around the person and purposes of Jesus Christ.
Equipping - The faith and practice of the New Testament church was to equip believers to bring the message and ministry of Jesus to others. In this way all believers are ministers. We believe that Christians are to be conduits rather than containers. What we have been give, we must freely give away.
Word - Sound doctrine
Since we believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, we are committed to basing our lives and ministry on the timeless truths that are taught in the Scriptures. We provide teaching that is relevant and sensitive to those who are seeking, yet without compromising the authority and integrity of the message itself.
Worship - Resounding Praise is the means by which we open ourselves to experience the presence of God. We believe worship should be relevant, yet honor the timeless traditions of the past. We encourage worship that engages the whole person. Through Spirit-led structure and spontaneity, we anticipate and welcome the gifts of the Spirit.
Witness - Jesus' last command was to "Go and make disciples of all nations." (Mt. 28:19) some of the ways Church on the Sound seeks to fulfill the Great Commission is by:
- Participating in local outreaches to the community.
- Providing funds for those in temporary crisis (see Sam's Purse)
- Sponsoring periodic short term missions projects
Church on the Sound also provides monthly support to various local, national and international ministries. A list is available in the church lobby and at our website.
